The business coaches are subjected to a severe selection. One of the most important criteria in order to be recruited as a business coach at The First Step To, is that he/she should have been an entrepreneur himself/herself or should still be an entrepreneur. The coach should know the tricks of the trade of entrepreneurship and should have experienced it himself/herself. Other requirements are:


  • Experience with various aspects of starting their own business, including writing a business plan;
  • a large, broad and diverse network, nationally and internationally;
  • Financial and economic knowledge;
  • Generalist and specialist in at least two areas: fiscal, legal, marketing, public relations, communication, personnel, operations and logistics;
  • Good communication skills; Is ambitious and is familiar with the target audience;
  • Masters the English language both written and spoken.

Brief biographies of our business coaches.

Grace Boldewijn

Grace Boldewijn was born in Paramaribo, Suriname. She is the founder of the engineering company called BoCari. BoCari has offices in Breda, Paramaribo and Curaçao. In 2002/ 2003 Grace Boldewijn was awarded European Black Business Woman of the year. That was for her decisive to coach and advise companies/government and entrepreneurs . After winning the title, she is frequently asked to lecture.

Astrid Belgrave

Astrid was born and raised in Suriname. She is a chartered accountant with over 25 years of experience in the (International ) Financial sector. She held different senior within the private and public sector. She is the co-founder of Diaspora Consulting Group. Astrid her motto is that “Success is not to play in an existing game. Success is to create a whole new game”.

Romano Krenten

Romano is a professional with over 20 years of experienced as a Management Controller, Financial Planner, Compliance Officer, entrepreneur and coach. In addition to the above-mentioned, he also is a business consultant, entrepreneur and coach for start-ups. He is the co-founder of Diaspora Consulting Group, a business consultancy firm.
